The word “luck” implies something; that you cannot control the outcome.
That, in and of itself, can be a discouraging thing to think about.
You can start to feel a little helpless about your life if your luck kinda… sucks.
Before you start to spiral, let me go ahead and stop you real quick:
You can make your own luck.
This is a completely wonderful revelation because you now have the responsibility.
Lets take a look at some ways you can have the odds ever in your favor.
1. Stop expecting things to go wrong.
It sounds so simple, but I promise you that you do it all the time. There is a plethora of great historical figures, entrepreneurs, and mystics that agree that you are what you think about. It sounds like some radical voodoo stuff, but it is nevertheless, very true. Stop thinking about all the things that can go wrong. Yeah, things can always go wrong. That’s life. But what you can always control is how you react to things. You would be amazed at the kind of pickles you can escape from just by having a good attitude about it.
“The best way to predict your future is to create it.” -Abraham Lincoln
2. Constantly affirm your calm serenity, even if it’s BS at the time.
Your vibe attracts your tribe. Not to mention so many other things; your results on the phone with the IRS, the amount of Hell you’re put through at the DMV, your income. Scary, right? Not really. If you don’t want to be around a bunch of whiney, broke, luckless Debbie Downers, don’t be one. It’s important to remember that this is kind of a “fake it ’til you make it” situation. You have to act calm, content, and serene; even if you’re ready to tear bae’s head off.
3. Take more chances.
You really don’t have a lot of room to complain that great things are not happening in your life if you aren’t taking chances every. single. day. to bring great things into your life. You have to shoot many times before you score. It is what it is.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” -Michael Jordan
4. Do nice things for other people. Expect nothing back.
This one seems weird, at first glance. But like #3, the more you do it, the greater the chances are that someone will return a favor, put in a good word for you somewhere, or become your friend! This ties in with the concept of karma, but on an even smaller scale. Do not discount it, it adds up!
5. Go with your gut.
Trusting your gut is generally the best dating advice, but it truly works in all walks of life. There’s a reason your gut is telling you something. The problem is that we don’t always want to listen to it. Because the answer isn’t what we wanted to hear. But for the betterment of your future you, listen to it. Make like Nike and just do it.
Always always always go with your gut.
